Behind The Joy: Honoring Mother’s Postpartum Mental Health is a community-centered maternal mental health activation designed to raise awareness, foster healing, and connect families with resources that support postpartum wellbeing.

Hosted by award-winning filmmaker Jamal Smart, the event features a screening of his 23-time award-winning film Behind The Joy, which explores the realities of postpartum depression within the Black community and the silence and stigma that often surrounds maternal mental health.

Following the screening, attendees will participate in a live moderated panel discussion, bringing together perspectives from a midwife, a doula, and a mother with lived experience of postpartum depression.
