The Children’s Health & Research Foundation (CHRF), we are committed to creating spaces where mothers feel seen, supported, and empowered—especially during one of the most vulnerable times in their lives: the postpartum period.

We were honored to be part of a powerful community event at the New Rochelle Public Library featuring the award-winning film Behind The Joy. This impactful gathering brought together healthcare professionals, birth workers, advocates, and community members to spark meaningful conversations around maternal mental health—particularly within Black and Brown communities.

The screening of Behind The Joy served as a moving entry point into deeper dialogue about postpartum depression, emotional wellness, and the realities many mothers face after childbirth. Following the film, attendees engaged in a thoughtful panel discussion and had the opportunity to connect with organizations providing critical resources and support.

CHRF’s Role in the Community

As part of this important activation, CHRF was proud to provide maternal health resources, education, and guidance to attendees. Our goal is to ensure that mothers and families not only have access to information—but also feel supported in navigating their postpartum journey with confidence and care.

Events like these reinforce the importance of community, culturally responsive care, and open dialogue. Maternal mental health is not a solo journey—it requires awareness, access, and collective support.

Moving Forward Together

At CHRF, we will continue to advocate for maternal wellness through education, partnerships, and community-driven programming. We believe that every mother deserves to experience joy—not just in moments, but throughout her journey.

If you or someone you know is navigating postpartum challenges, we encourage you to connect with us and explore the resources available.

Together, we can create healthier outcomes for mothers, babies, and families.
